Fortify a Door Noone Needs to Open
We have a side door and we use the area for storage. Just in case of a zombie attack, I would like to fortify the door. I'm brainstorming ideas. There are many products that reinforce the door jam, but I want to take it a step further and put a 6" x 6" piece of wood that braces the door closed.
The benefit my idea (shown below) is that we can still use the space above and below the 6" x 6" for storage.
Here is my diagram. Please offer any alternate ideas or comments.

Zombies just moved in around the corner. Its either this or put a treadmill outside the door.

We have fixed up a door in a warehouse. We added 1" plywood to the inside of the door
and a couple brakets so you could side a 2x4 in to hold it closed.

Yea I would have just put some brackets so we could put 2x4's to hold it closed, but the problem is that I'm not sure where the studs are, and it seems like weak plaster. The door frame doesn't seem that strong either.
I've uploaded a pic to show the areas I'm talking about.

It all looks like overkill but I'm not living with the same fear. It looks like your plan will work and hopefully it won't be tested, good luck and welcome.

Neal, you can't have overkill when you have zombies living next door
