2nd window up
Ok so it took several weeks for us to get the second window in the brick up. We are pleased with the $10 sliding glass door used as our new horizontal picture window. We had to cut off part of the metal trim on the sliding door for a flush installation. We also figured out why it was only $10 -- the inner gasket/seal was installed in a wavy mess.
There were many other issues, but we are pleased with the results. We still have some trim boards to install. There is one problem that we have put off. We didn't cut the brick straight. When we placed the outside trim peices, I think it will look weird. I was the only one who noticed the 1/4-1/2" difference, so we are letting it go for now. We are sick of dust - brick dust, joint compound dust, tile removal dust.... so the 1/2" slanted brick will remain until next year's list of home improvements.
Unfortunately we are still having issues with our flat roof. Hopefully it's not a job we have to take on ourselves, but we might.
Cutting the brick and installing the windows will problably be the most significant change that we will appreciate on a daily basis. We can't believe we are doing this. We thank everyone on this site!
