Window into patio door question.
Hello. For some reason, the builders/ pref owners have a window overlooking a courtyard that just begs a door.
So, we want to place on there. Will take a bit of framing in since the window is quite large bit my question is: It's in las Vegas and is is on a PTS foundation. No basement. I have helped with a similar project when I was younger and researched this immensely...but as I can figure, after the rough opening is framed to size, king, cripple, header etc would think I need to "remove" the floor plate/sill plate??? The floor plate is bolted down to the foundation. If I leave then the sill. Will be quite a bit higher than the interior floor. Any thoughts?? Thanks! |
It should come out, Unless you are doing a sliding glass door, we leave a 2x4 there to bring top up to the height of the windows when you have 8 ft ceiling.

Any pearls on removing the bolted floor plate?

Engineers like to have bolts every 3 or 4 ft and I have never had one complain about removing one for a door.

I live in the northeast & have never heard of a PTS foundation. Can someone clue me in?
