Sealing outside vents and lights
 

Hi everyone

It would appear that the bottom part of an outside vent was not caulked…

I have the same thing happen with a light mounted on the siding.

Just wondering what kind of sealant suits this best, especially for preserving heat in the winter? Any outdoor-grade caulk?

By the way, does anyone know what kind of sealant it is on the side of the vent?

It feels a bit spongy to the touch. It doesn’t feel like the normal caulk at all…

These areas are not caulked, to allow moisture a path out.
