Backbrushing A Metal Door
 

I plan to use a 4" foam roller and back brush my steel back door for coating uniformity. The door has a small amount of rust at the bottom, which I was planning to sand with 150 grit paper, prime with red oxide primer, then apply 2 coats of latex paint. I was planning to use a 3.5 or 4-inch synthetic, soft bristled polyester brush to minimize brush marks.


Any suggestions about the surface prep, type of bristle or width of brush?

I've never had any luck creating a powder coat like finish without using spray can paint.
