Music while Painting?

Do you guys take music to the job?

If it is unoccupied or if the people are at work I do but if they are home I usually just go without. Sometimes I will use my ipod but that can make you seem unavailable. I also listen to a lot of audiobooks.

I allow our crew to use a radio on the job. As long as its ok with the customer, its at a respectful volume and not turned onto the death thrash metal station.

Oh, and NO dub-step.

In my trade, I always listened to music in unoccupied. What's bad sometimes, is listening to the customers taste in radio.

MP3 player here. (Only one ear bud in for safety reasons)

Or a radio on classical station. (low volume)

That's the on thing I would not take.

I have an old boom box I use when I'm doing things.

No point in risking the expensive gadgets when dealing with paint.

My brother listens to his ipod non stop at the job, but I can't stand to have something in my ears. I don't like to seem unavailable to the customer or the guys, and I feel disconnected and unaware of my surroundings with I've got something in my ears. I like to listen to talk radio, with sports talk being a second choice and music coming in last. I like listening to audio books in the car, but I hate turning on the vac or a sander and missing part of the book, so I don't listen to them at the job much.

Whenever I use head phones I hear stuff like my name being called when no one is there.

I hate having my hearing blocked. Like you I like being aware of my surroundings.

I like painting with a friend. We can get into some deep conversations and before you know it, the job is done.

Always good times. If you worked with them all the time you would run out of stuff to say and be trying to find a compromising radio station. :p
