Hi… I have to repaint my exterior shutters every few years. This side of the house gets blasted by sun every afternoon, and is only a couple of miles from the beach. In the past I've used latex exterior primer and paint, is there something else that would give better sun and salt air resistance? What about rattle can spray? Thanks

My experience is that oil based paints are more durable outdoors than latex paints. If it wuz me, I would scrape any loose latex paint off, prime any bare wood with an exterior alkyd primer and paint over everything with an exterior alkyd paint.
