Default Painting Over Dry Rot

We have an area of siding that shows a small amount of rot, not enough to justify removing, what steps should I take before painting?

There is wood filler, wood bondo, wood epoxy, and wood hardners to use prior to your repairs.

Here is a good brand, can be on the pricey side depending on your needs.
