How lond are you waiting after you prime to top coat and then apply your second coat? Pay close attention to the directions on the can.

i have tried multiple things like priming then wating like 5 min. then priming. i have also primed than wated like 1 hour and re primed it. then for the paint i have let the primer dry for two days before painting it with the black. then i have also tried painting like 10 min. after primer. so i have tried the can derections nothing works...

next option is clear coat or differnt type of metal thx guys

Just a couple thoughts, did you sand in between primmer and top coat? Sounds like an adhesion problem you are having. Did you degrease the metal with mineral spirits before you started painting?

Oh...and we want to see the cart and some spec's.

alright well i havent been sanding in beteen the two coats of primer. I might try that. also could you throw up a link for mineral spirits? many have said i should use this. Thx

The kart i am building started as a dirt devil kart, but i have changed it and just been designing it myself. i had the kart running and driving, but took apart to put roll cage and paint(here i am). its full suspension with two a arms up front and one a arm in back. its almost been a year. here are some pics Thx again

what type of metal did you make the frame out of? I can remember having difficulties painting galvanized steel before. the galvanization coating made it difficult for the paint to adhere smoothly.

You need to use a better primer and paint go to the automobile paint store. What is happening is the impurities in the or on the metal are affecting the primer.
Great primer and great paint= Success

would truck bedliner work? thx

Yes that will also work, if you have a siphon spray gun with compressor
Home depot has rustoleum in a quart size just thin it with laquer thinner just enough to spray it. This is an single stage paint for better than the spray can. Be sure to primer it first. If you have some cash powder coat is the best way
