priming new plaster
 

my name is Jim, I have a question for any one who knows, should newly plastered walls and ceilings be primed

is it totally necassary to prime new plaster with oil base primer

I don't about oil based primer. You can seal it with a couple coats of lite color water based paint mixed with 50% water.

what is "priming" and why is it important to prime? what is being primed?

New plaster is porise and can suck the moisture out of the paint making it dry to fast and blotchy.
