Problem with job site availability. Residential.
Once in a while I have a problem. I give a bid for a job that will take roughly 4 days to compleat. That customer excepts the bid and I start the job. Only to be told on day two I can't come the next day or so. This slows progress and drops my profit margin. How can I get around this?

All trades run into that. I guess you need a clause in your contract where a delay would cost them more money.

Thank you Rusty, I was a bit frustrated yesterday and was looking for the magic answer. I know their isn't going to be one.

I do realize this is the way to go but did not want to discourage a potential customer. Now that I have had time to settle, I know I'm the one who needs to make a choice. Do I suck it up and hope for the best? Do I bid a little more in case? Do I add it to my contract?

I'm going to have to think it over and do what a small business owner is supposed to do. Make the call.

Thank you again.

A contract stating the billed rate for not having access to the job site on scheduled work days.
