stain washing off railing easily
 

I have a newer home, built in 2008-2009, I have been finding cheaply finished things in the house, as well as doors that don't seal right etc...

Anyways my railings have a stain of some sort on them, cabernet or something similar, not sure if its all the hands touching them over last few years....but now if I take a cloth and mild soap the stain just wipes right off!!!!

Is there a way to do a quick fix to the tops of the railings to match up and last another few years?

I also notice my cabinets(same colour) seem to be losing some stain especially where they are exposedto sunlight a lot.

Any suggestions very welcome!!!! Not sure how to remove the railing if that needs to be done...I am not much of a diy guy, but I figure this can't be too hard.
