Default staining d-log siding

Have to restain wood D-log siding, there is algae under the current stain, after I use a stripper I end up with a "fuzzy" wood surface. After I strip I have been sanding the entire surface which is a real pain, anyone have any better suggestions. I attached a pic of the wood after I use the stripper (rinsed with a high pressure garden hose only, no pressure washer)

Thanks

Sanding is time consuming, but its the way to go. The wood is fuzzing up so bad because the top layers of wood are deteriorated. Sanding removes these top layers, exposing a sound surface for coating.

The only possible alternative I know of is an Osborne brush. Some log home finishing systems recommend using them after washing instead of sanding, but it won't give you as smooth a finish as sanding.
