I hear you on the burn out. I go through my phases with it also. Some days I say to myself I'm just going to fire everybody and work alone, but I always come to my senses.

Different trade (flooring) but about 15 years ago, I decided to only do jobs that I could handle alone. That is probably at least 90% of what I look at. Actually made more money working alone until I semi-retired about 3 years ago. I find most of the customers very accomodating.

I like to keep my business to one to two guys working for me. Doing one job at a time. Less headaches when you can run your own work.

My ideal situation. But when work gets a little leaner, the jobs get smaller. And that means each guy on a separate little job. That means I'm running around setting up jobs in the mornings and get very little done myself. I hate those days.

I have a buddy who is also a contractor that I help out every now and then and he is busy 365 days a year but doesn't hire anyone. I work about half the year and have two employees.

I make well more profit then him because of how I work, I get in and get the job done then leave.

He is so busy running from job to job doing an hour of work here and there that he gets nothing done, he ends up getting people mad at him and he has to call me to come finish up jobs.

I relax much of the year with no worries and he is stressed out every day.

He keeps telling me it is the work comp he doesn't want to deal with.

Everyone still staying busy?

We've had a bunch of rain so I had to disassemble our pool and store it till it clears up.

Went out one morning and the frogs had made it their own. I thought about keeping them but decided to do away with them before the wife found out I was raising frogs now.
