I am "trying" to repaint a room in my home. The previous owner used a paint with sparkles and granite in the paint. It is one big textured mess. Removing it looks like a nightmare. Where should I even begin with this?

How hard is the textured material? Can you scrap it? Post a pic of the area.

I did an entire ceiling with a similar problem. We scraped as much of the junk off, then tuoch sanded any remaining bad spots. Then I skip troweled the entire ceiling, primed and painted. The ceiling matched the walls beautifully.

It was physical and dirty -- but it worked very nicely.
