Capacitor advice needed
I would like to run a 120 VAC compact refrigerator from a modified sine wave inverter. The fridge requires 10 amps to start, but less than 1.5 A to run. I would like to use a 400 W inverter and place a capacitor in series for the compressor start. Is this feasible and what type/size capacitor would I need to provide 10A VAC for 3 seconds.
Thanks in advance. |
The fridge compressor motor should already have a capacitor.
As long as the inverter has the surge capacity to handle the 10amp draw, you shouldn't need an inline capacitor. Let me know if you need a larger inverter. |
Thanks for your response. While a larger inverter is the obvious solution, I am trying to avoid that option as the run amperage requirements are so low.
