Maytag Gallery Dishwasher
 

I have a Frigidaire Gallery Professional Series Dishwasher that won't complete its cycle anymore. The cycle will start normally but at some point, usually soon, it quits and displays PF (for power failure) in the display window. My wife recently got it to run full cycle on the lower rack setting but now that has started doing the same thing. Any help with this problem would be appreciated. We live in a rural area where appliance repairs are at a premium.

Has the main power been checked...a loose/burnt connector could loosen and sto pthe d/w causing an PF. Check where the main wires enter the d/w at the marr nuts.

The wiring and connection integrity can be checked with a calculator, voltmeter and a 10A load like a toaster or hair dryer, provided the wire gauge and distance back to the load center is known.

I looked at the main connection where the power cord is wire nutted to the dishwasher wiring and both look like good connections-no burn. The model # is GPDB998JC0

Dishwasher will not operate when turned on.

1. Fuse (blown or tripped).
2. 120 VAC supply wiring connection
faulty.
3. Electronic control board defective.
4. No 12 VAC power to control.
5. Motor (inoperative, check
resistances).
6. Door switch (open contacts).
7. Door latch not making contact with
door switch.
8. Touch pad circuit defective.
9. No indicator lamps illuminate when
START or OPTIONS are pressed.

dishwasher junction box.

4. Replace transformer.
5. Replace motor/impeller assembly.
6. Replace door switch.

Just says PF is a power failure has occured.

Might need to follow the power wires in all the way through the door to the consol to make sure none are pinched/broken/loose.

Would be interesting to have a volt meter attached to the main wires commign int othe d/w....baby sit the load and when it fails is the power still there or did it disappear and come back....still there and the problem is in the d/w, disappeared and the problem is in the main power supply.

Yes. More than a 10% drop is probably trouble. Also, the incoming house voltage may be on the low side, to begin with.

Another option is to temporarily run a #12 cable from the dishwasher directly back to the load center. Two or three trouble-free cycles probably means the problem has been solved.
