Need help with dryer
 

Ok I have an electric Ge dryer and its about 6 yrs old. When I go to turn it on it make a noise but won't turn on. Any ideas as what may be causing this and how to fix it. It was fine yesterday?

A buzz?

A rattle?

A hum?

A click?

A squeal?

A pop?

A bump?

A grind?

A beep?

a buzzing noise and it stops when you let go of the on button

I'm just not an appliance man.
The safety switch went out on my dryer.
It was the one that turns the dryer off when you open the door.
It acted similar. I un-plugged the dryer, removed the switch and spliced the wires together. It worked fine until the switch came in.

I don't recommend trying this to anyone. But, this worked for me for the short term. Turn the dryer off and unplug it before you remove any covers.
