Default Rinse agent cup

I have a GE/Kenmore dishwasher that has a cup & lid for detergent and another well in the door for rinse agent. The rinse agent well has a screw in cap w/a dipstick on the cap to determine proper fill level.
The detergent lid gets opened via the cycle timer at a specified time during the wash cycle but, how does the rinse agent get release during the cycle?
I don't see any holes where the rinse agent can be released and don't see any feeder tube from the door to compartment where the agent can be released into the dishwasher. Over time I do have to refill it but, I'm thinking that this is just evaporation from the drying cycle.

Hello KOK:
I don't know where the rinse agent comes out but my dishes sure let me know when its all gone; wow look at the spots. I don't know how hard your water is but I would bet you can see the difference too.
