Cleaning Barnboard Cabinets
 

I have vintage barn board custom made kitchen cabinets- they look beautiful but impossible to clean. They are stained a dark color . Does anyone know how to clean them ? The surface is natural not smooth and have no finish on them. I'm willing to take them all down to clean and refinish but just dont know how??? Any help or advice appreciated.

I would use a mild soap

I use spray orange cleaner, it's mild smells good, safe to use and cuts grease better then anything I've ever used.
I also would get a sealer on there asap. The grease in the air and on your hands is going to soak in and stain them.
A wipe on satin or a water based poly would soak in and seal it but not give you a high gloss finish.
