I am in the process of renovating my bathroom, has anyone tried the glass clean guard on their shower doors? I have heard the sales jargan about how it can help i am just wondering if anyone has had experience of using this and if it actually works?

My friend uses it on his shower, and it seems to work pretty well. It's not something that I myself would go out and buy though. But that's just me.

I have used it and it seems to work pretty well. I am not sure it is really worth it though. Give it a try and see what you think.

Minerals in hard water actually change the surface of the glass and can not be removed without buffing the glass surface. Minerals eat away at the glass causing pitting that holds the milky white discoloration. You need a handheld buffing machine with a pumice wheel to remove the pitting. If you can't find a handheld buffer at a reasonable price most glass companies will come to your home and buff the glass on site.

It's best when shopping for shower doors or frameless shower enclosures to ask your contractor what kind of protected glass they sell. Shower glass comes with mineral resistant chemicals baked into the sheet of glass during manufacturing (the best protection I have seen is called ShowerGuard). You can also buy products that coat the glass after it is manufactured (Clearshield for example). It is best to coat the glass before ever using the shower and maintain the coating with product like Invisible Shield.

Use cool or hand-warm water only. Never wash (or rinse) glass objects in hot water. Although in many cases it may well be safe to do so, one day you will come across a piece with an internal weakness or microscopic bubble, and suddenly you will find the piece you were holding has now become several pieces! Ann was once washing a bowl when it literally exploded into tiny fragments like a car windscreen does
