Default 1880s Historic Wood Plank Flooring

How on earth does one go about restoring wood planking? It doesn't appear stained. How can I tell if I can sand it? Please advise.

Default Historic wood planking

Can you give us some more information about your floor. Where is the home? What type of wood? Describe current condition? I have seen floors that had 2-3 layers of linoleum on them with a layer of black mastic (ugly glue). After removing the lino they heated the mastic with a heat gun and slowly removed it. They were unable to get into the corners and clean to the edge they got as much as they could. Then lightly sanded the floor and refinished the floor, black edges and all. It looked great.
