Yes! Someone actually read my post. Most places/contractors usually quote flooring installation per square foot. Obviously the price varies depending on whether they have to tear out existing flooring, etc.
I don't expect any licensed/insured/etc. contractor to work for $10 an hour. In MD I've even had a handyman (for other work, not for the flooring) wanted $220 for the first two hrs and then $75 an hour. I thought that was outrageous. I can't believe anyone would pay him that kind of money.
I'm just finding out the price difference between going directly to the installer vs. hiring a general contractor. The last quote from a general contractor wanted about $18+ per sq foot (not including cost of the tile).
I'm waiting to hear from a couple of flooring contractors and see what they charge.
