measuring moisture content
It I wanted to measure the amount of moisture in my floor to see whether it was OK for wood flooring, what kind of a tool would I need?
Would this simple tool tell me anything?

This is the tool you would need. They come in all different price ranges. I suppose you will get what you pay for.

This tool will give you very inaccurate results, if you are seriously wanting to know get a calcium chloride test from a local flooring distributor and perform the test S stated in the instructions. This will give you an accurate MVER rating

Impossible to tell what he needs without knowing if the subfloor is wood or concrete.
