Has anyone out there ever installed a tin ceiling? We attempted it this weekend with bad results. The tiles are 24X24 and according to the directions received from American tin ceiling company, (where we got the tiles) they have little dimples on them to help with the install. Problem is, the dimples aren't in the same place on all the tile. Are we missing something. We chalked lines on our plywood and after only 8 tiles we were already off. Can anybody enlighted us?

Square Eye

A hammer will take that dimple down quickly. Just flatten the dimples on the bottom of the lap. Leave the top lap alone so it won't destroy any finish.

You may have to watch the tiles and turn them until they fit. All 4 sides may not be the same.

Better to go with the lines than to go with the dimples that are already causing problems.

When we do coffer ceilings in most library's, we end up cutting down the tiles to fit.
The problem as you said is they are never uniform.
Sometimes this depends on the batch and when it was stamped.

A local tin company with a press works the best to get them symmetrical.
Or you just do the best you can. Never have found the easy fix for those.
