Order of operations
 

This is probably a stupid question, but in building a simple 2nd story square attached deck, does one install the exterior door before building the deck or after? We currently have a 4 ft window that will be expanded to hold a standard sliding door. Thanks!

Build the deck 1st because you can stand on it and install the door. Doors and widows are usually 80" from the header. So measuring down should be simple. Oterwise drill a hole from the inside to the outside @ the floor and you will definately know your height issues.
