Wallpaper

My Mother has been using wallpaper since I was a child and only just recently have I done my first room. It got me thinking though, why did wallpaper go out of fashion?

It just might be because of the need to strip before reapplying. It's a real PITA!

Personally wallpaper feels dated to me. Though lately it seems I've been seeing some pretty interest patterns that give it a much less dated feel then your typical floral design.

I think there's a been a shift to solid colors.

Why use paper when you can just paint?

\Not sure though to be honest.

I think wall paper is coming back a bit as was mentioned there are some cool patterns these days and so far it is not a lost art.

I notice most males do not like wall paper.

And most females do like wall paper.

Wonder whats up with that?

That is odd.

Maybe because it is usually the males who have to install that time consuming wallpaper, and later, when SHE doesn't like it anymore, it is US who has to strip it from the wall, patch, prime and eventually paint.

IMHO it started to decline with the advent of pre-pasted's. The manufactures sold it as anyone could do it, while at the same time putting out allot of garbage product. Standards really went down.

Then, when people discovered what a nightmare this garbage was to remove they swore never to use paper again. Couple that with outdated "grandma" patterns and you have the current state of the industry.
