hum... quick question...

when one replaces cast iron plumbing in a house renovation, code requires that the old stuff be dug up. That means that 1.5 foot trenches are dug across the foundation/floor of your home. Usually, the GC fills it back with regular concrete after the inspection.

Question: Is there any reason why the terazzo couldn't be patched with terazzo? Or, what about patching it with concrete, then layering the entire slap with fresh terrazo?

My husband and I love our downstairs terrazo. But any renovations will destroy it... if we were to renovate down to the slab and maybe one wall still standing...

Hello Kim:
You may be able to contact a terazzo company at your Florida home and ask them what to do.
It is impossible to match the existing terazzo and I wouldn't think a new coat of it would bond very well over the sealer. Your earlier idea about mixing hardwoods may have some application with the terazzo.
Terazzo is beautiful and I don't blame you for not wanting to loose it.
