attic ceiling framing

What's the easiest plan to frame the ceiling? As you can see from the picture at the end of the house I have "clipped corners" where it angles in, my thought was just to nail the new ceiling joists right to the top plate of that wall above the window and nail to the rafters, this would be a 2x4, the rest would be nailed to the rafters but be 2x6's, the soffit is vented there, what/where would you start your ceiling frame?

If thats eight feet high it will work fine. Once you have tyhose in you also need a 2x4 block on the flat between the rafters for solid backing for the top of the sloped drywall. Actually if you do your backing first your ceiling joist will just sit on them while you nail them. You just have to figure the back if the 2x4 backing is a little higher then the front and put your level line down a little to make it work.

Floor to the top of the top plate is exactly 8'. So that sounds good, thanks for the backing tip, should make puting the joists up easier
