Default Converting Carport to Garage

Hey all,
First post here. I just bought my first house back in October. I'm having a ball remodeling it. It's a 1972 Brick Ranch with a 2 car carport. Right now I'm in the middle of converting the carport to a garage. My question is how do I finish the sides of the opening? I plan on installing a 7x17 foot garage door. The current opening is roughly 8x19 feet. Do I frame with treated lumber directly to the concrete floor or should I install a brick foundation and then frame? Does that make sense? Sorry if this is confusing, this is all new to me. See pics below, Thanks!
