talking to a plumber in line at the supply store and he said that spraying pex down with a coat of wd-40 will keep rodents and squirrels from chewing on it for years. has anyone done or heard of this? i assume the pex wont degrade from wd-40??

Personally, I would not spray oil on PEX - that's my gut instinct. I heard allegations that WD-40 was sometimes sprayed on CPVC during installation to make it easier to push through the holes in the joists, and future problems occurred with the pipe. Again, this was an allegation and I never saw any documentation to substantiate this claim.

Your best bet would be to send an email to a PEX pipe manufacturer or check their website for FAQ's that may address this.

i wouldnt put any type of oil on too PEX, just to be safe
