What is this drain?
Hi! We've pulled out the old metal tub in my 1960s house in order to put in a fiberglass tub and surround. But the drain is weird. Can anyone help? What is this pipe? #3 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!, What is this pipe? #2 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!, What is this pipe? #1 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
Thank you for your time! |
what part of the tub was it hooked to? are there any gases coming out of it? it could be a lead flange pipe, it could be an old air intake, it all depends on where you found it....we need a little more detail....

It was the tub drain
Its the drain. Its just old and so I'm not sure how to connect a new tub to it...I don't recognize the bit above the cast iron.

is the part above the cast iron soft? Can you bend it easily with pliers? If so, it is a lead flange. It is either installed with a collar bolt, or it is just hammerd in...
if not, unscrew it and bring it to Hardware store and they'll set you up with plastic/abs hope this helps.... boobou69 |
Is that copper leaded into cast iron with a piece of tubular brass sweated to it?
Can't really tell with the pics... |
