Hello all

Hi all, I've been lurking for a couple of months and have enjoyed reading about the different projects and problems people get into. I have a few years roofing experience, mostly commercial but some residential. I'm generally clueless about fixing most things below the roof.

I just bought a new-to-me home and I'm already finding things that need to be fixed, or things I just want to change. First home for me and it's the first time living in an actual house in many years, so I'm also looking for tips on general maintenance so I can keep from neglecting things I didn't even know about.

Glad to welcome you here. As Bud says, nobody here bites, especially oldog 'cause his teeth are gone. :D

Try to be clear about your problem, provide good pics, and follow the Facebook rule to "Like" when people do their best to help you.

Oh, try to send coupons for beer and sandwiches ...

It's a one and half story house. Built in the eighties so it has fairly large rooms, mostly carpeted, lots of brass and oak in the kitchen, and poor insulation. A few of the rooms have been remodeled. However the closer you look at them, the more it becomes apparent that the person doing the remodeling was definitely not a stickler for details. It's a great house so far, but I'm certainly not in danger of running out of projects any time soon.
