We are always glad to see new folks on here. I didn't answer your range-top and oven question, it sounds like a sticky situation to me. I sure hope you can get it worked out somehow. I kept my Mother-In-Law's oven working for 15 years after I got her to give up the $600 a year Sears Maintenance Agreement (and they never could fix the oven). There was a wire that would burn off every year or two; a real simple fix in her case but yours sounds like something bigger. I wish you the best on it.
