I am wondering about the feasability-and sensibility-and expense of doing this.

I don't know that anyone here can tell you how feasable or sensible it is without a little information. What's there now? What kind of mosaic - plain white tiles, a premade design, or a replica of Monet's water lilies, or something completly different - do you have in mind? Doing it yourself or contracting it out? We're happy to help where we can but you gotta give us something to work with.

Anything is feasable, as far as sensible, you'll have to check on how much this will add to the value of your home and how it compares with your neighbors. To go hi-end in a low end neighborhood, isn't sensible.
