Default Sump Pump Noise

When My sump pump runs, I seem to have a lot of noise from the piping. It is 1 1/2 PVC pipe. Should reroute it away from the floor joists to make it more quiet, or insulate it. It seems that the pipe vibrates against the joists. Any suggestions?

If you can isolate the pipe from the joist with foam rubber, it should help. If still noisy, you may need to wrap it.

Welcome Oakridge:
Your sump pump's vertical discharge pipe should have a short length of rubber hose in it to isolate the vibration. Often, the check valve will come with hose connections on both sides.
Merry Christmas to you and yours Gary
