When I first got married, we bought an old house in Louisville, the first floor had been used to store motorcycles that had oil leaks. After sanding the floors, we mopped them daily for a week with a solution of regular laundry bleach and water, then finish sanded them (the water/bleach raised the grain) and finished the floors with a product called fabulon (used for bowling alley surfaces) lots of work, but the oil/gas smell was gone.
