Neal
I would like to know how you got 10 photos of my new house before I started working on it.

I'll have to agree with the one who said that at its core "DIY is on the job learning". There's joy in being able to put something together and have it function right and function safely. I think it's the being safe and being sure those around you are safe all throughout the DIY project. Having said that, I believe we should also know when to call in the pros or specialists.

Those pictures are fantastic, I especially like the cement bag.

Neal, I also agree with your comment about "dumb" or uninformed answers being corrected and made better. Eventually if you have enough visitors and enough corrections you will get to the correct answer by consensus. Of course it may not be the "legal" correct or the "best" correct but laws & best practices can't account for every situation, which is why there's so many inspectors. In a way, this forum for DIY'ers, we're like inspectors all giving our two cents. If we had enough people contribute eventually you get enough help (maybe off a cliff) that it gets done adequately maybe 90% of the time? That's Good enough for an A in my book.

I've been zapped, cut, boinked, prodded, fallen, stabbed and been hurt enough that the law of the fittest is being fulfilled... (I also have really good life insurance just in case), but I also have people who respect/admire that if something needs fixed at church or a neighbor needs a hand they can come to me and I've got the tool & basic knowledge to at least help them get started.
