Default How do you seal the gap between bathtub and plastic surround?

Hi,
The guy who put the bathtub in my bathroom left a bigger gap between tub and plastic surround. He squeezed some caulk between it but it looks ugly and doesn't seal well. Do caulk strips work? Is there another alternative to cover a one inch gap?

to the site.
If this is one of those cheap plastic surround it might be better to just replace it. I would want the gap to be 1/16" with a bead of bathroom caulk.
