I am replacing the fixtures and painting a bathroom in our 1951 house. The TP roll holder and soap dish are inset into the drywall. I don't see how they are secured. I tried moderate pulling and prying but didn't want to apply too much force (yet) for fear of adding wallboard repair to my project. Any ideas on how these things might be secured and how to remove them? Thanks.

Some have screws in the back behind the paper roll.

Both are chrome finished metal and the TP roll holder for sure does not have any visible screws or anything other than the continuous metal surface. The soap dish has corrosion, which is why I want to replace it, but I don't think it does either.

The main thing I want to avoid is using brute force and finding myself with a drywall job on top of everything else I have to do. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
