Mailbox Repair Cost
Hello,
Recently my wife backed our car into a mailbox while picking up our kid from a music lesson. The following week, when I was doing the drop off, the teacher told me that they had gotten someone to repair it, and the cost was $100. There was no damage to our car, and there didn't seem to be much damage to the mailbox or the stand. My wife did say that the stand was pushed over and uprooted from the ground.
I would greatly appreciate the opinion of the forum as to whether, this repair cost is realistic and honest. I have posted a picture of the mailbox as it stands today.
Many thanks.

Depending the median income in your area (see the Zipskinny site) this may be OK. $50k/yr is a good US average.
I've had customers insist on giving me $100 for callback repairs that I insisted were free, because they were callbacks and so I felt they should be free because they were my fault.
. . .But. . .my ZIP shows $114K median income.

considering the landscaping which had to be moved and replaced and the time required that's probably a fair price. I would have done it myself.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Looks like a good bit of work and effort. Wonder if they set it deep in concrete or just plain ol' ground?

I would probably charge that to set a mailbox, figure travel time, bag of quickcrete, time to pick up materials, gas, then dig the hole, level the box. Lot more to it than just sticking some poles in the ground. I don't think it was out of line.
So...are you going to take this out of your wifes allowance?

Poor mike. can't get anyone to agree with him.
Things have gotten completely out of hand at the "other forum" over 50 posts and growing. So far Mike has been sued, imprisoned, lynched, among other things, worst of all, subjected to atrocious puns. Kinda creepy in fact.
Only 7 posts here, pretty pathetic posting percentage performance, wouldn't you say Joe? Say, what was your name in the states?
