Default Need suggestions / Stumped

The fence in the front of my house has to go, be replaced. It was put up 7 yrs ago when my dog had pups.. I had hubby put up a latice fence with a gate . I could leave the front door open & pups could go in the pourch and out. I was hoping for easy training.. The fence now has to be gone. I am not sure I want a new fence.. My gardens are on each side and the front of said area... The front area is stone footing.. do I do another fence or let the plants from the garden be the fence ( so to say ).. I was thinking of setting down cement blocks ( the ones with holes) and planting thyme & letting that grow over & still have the garden plants be a natural fence...

Not sure I understand what the area is like but some people put in what's called a "living fence". IE: A row of shrubs or trees.

Right in front is a stone area about 15 ft long & 6 ft wide. It was the puppy's play yard 7 yrs ago. We keep the grill there & I have a smal cafe Table & chair . Have big foot stepping stones. There was a lactice fence around the area. And garden on each side and the front of the fence.. The fence needs to be replaced. I am undecided on weather I should put up a new fence or as you say having a living fence, let the plants be the fence. I may have to just see it with no fence & just the plants before my mind snaps too.. LOL

Default living fence idea

I like the whole living fence idea...or have the current fence stay there but let other climbing vine plants take over (honeysuckle, morning glory, english ivy, etc.) so it looks like a living fence. Good luck on whatever you decide to do!

The fence is falling apart, bit by bit.. I could most likely men it.. A thought I had , is to make a rustic fence with cedar fence poles, then put up a wire fence and have climbing plants..
One yr. I planted sunflowers along the front of the fence. I loved 'em.. Ya know how the head flop over ... Every time Dan would walk by they hit his head.. LOL . he hated 'em.....
