Default new gardener with japanese mapel problems

hello new gardener here. got a japanese mapel and it is in its 2nd year of growing, but the leaves are wilting and i think some pesky insect is getting to it. any ideas?

Hi Jancan,

Not enough info here about the planting site and the sun it receives, how much rain or watering going on, how it was planted (maybe too deep, mulch piled up against the trunk, windy site, etc) or any changes in the environment.

What makes you think it has bugs? Do you see any or any damage?

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.
