nice, small flowering tree for garden area?
I'm looking for suggestions for a nice, small (not too tall or too full) for my garden area. We have good sun in the area. I'm in VA to give an idea of the climate. I'd like something that's fragrant, as well.

crepe myrtle (sp?)
I think you might like the crepe myrtle. Not sure if I'm spelling the name right. They have a variety of bloom colors and there's also a dwarf version that doesn't get very tall, though most of the crepe myrtles I've seen aren't very big.

Avoid flowering plum
I don't have any recommendations for you but I would suggest avoiding the flowering plum. It's an attractive tree in my opinion with it's dark red leaves but once established it grows too darn fast.
