Default pool motor

Our pool motor is making some loud noise, and has issues at start up. when the timer turns it on, the motor will come on, make a wierd noise, then shut down. a little while later it will attempt to come on again and after a couple attempts it does work but it is rather loud. Basically my question is this, is it hard to replace the motor. We were told by a pool company that it is the motor. I can buy a replacement on line at a good price but not sure how difficult it is to replace. Any help on the subject would be appreciated. By the way, it is a 1.5HP motor, switchless motor.

Welcome VBurek:
If you can get an identical motor and mark each wire or pipe as you disconnect it from the old pump, it should not be too difficult to install the new one. You could even move one wire or pipe at a time until they are all re-conneced.
Taking pictures before in the most detail you can get will help.
