Sunroom
What are the advantages of adding a sunroom instead of a regular room addition?
|
I can think of a couple.
Generally lower cost. May be oriented for solar gain if heating is needed. |
Less obsticles in the way of your veiw, More natural heat in the winter,
|
Sunroom
Think of installation not construction. Sunrooms are designed and manufactured to your individual specifications and installed at your home. Installation can often take less than two weeks and causes minimal disruption (debris, dust, etc.). Permitting and design fees are less costly. Best of all, a sunroom won’t require substantial modifications to your home.

Thanks for the advice. One concern I have relates to cooling costs. Will my A/C costs dramatically increase if I add a sunroom?
|
Yep, expect about 15%. They also sell shades you can use on the roof glass, you can see through it but it cuts the heat dramatically.

Sunroom A/C Costs
The answer depends on the glass used in the sunroom. There are a variety of different glazing options used by each sunroom manufacturer, such as single or dual pane glass. Each option allows more or less heat into the room, measured as Relative Heat Gain.
The glass with the lowest Relative Heat Gain (39) is called CONSERVAGLASS PLUS™. It’s only available on sunrooms manufactured by Four Seasons Sunrooms. CONSERVAGLASS PLUS™ blocks 85% of the sun's heat, helping you significantly reduce cooling costs. For more information, go to: http://www.ambianceadditions.com/sunrooms/sunroom-windows.html |
