Default Watercolours

Just thought I would share something interesting I do. I love to paint watercolours of my garden. I want them to be as authentic as possible, so here is what I do. I start with a plain white paint. Then I take some leaves from the plant I want to paint. I boil up the leaves in water, let it simmer so that some of the water evaporates and the liquid is more concentrated, then I add that liquid to the white paint. That way I end up with the exact shade of paint to use for the paintings. It looks great and it is fun, too.

I did this with beets for a college art project. The prof loved it.
