the problem is that a wood bath mat won't absorb the water that's dripping off you when you get out of the tub or shower. The result is that the floor is going to get wet, and water will accumulate on the lowest part of that floor (typically in a corner).
If you want a wood bath mat, then put it on top of a normal bath mat to do the job that a bath mat is supposed to; absorb the water that's dripping off you until you towel off.
