I agree...I always just check the new posts, but it is nice to see some change once and a while.:clap:

I don't know about other people's computers and connections, but in my humble opinion, more isn't always better.

The reason why is that I'm running Windows XP on a 500 MHz Pentium III computer, and I have a dial-up 56K connection. So, all of the stuff that has to get reloaded every time I click a mouse button really slows down my computer. On a high speed internet connection, I expect it doesn't matter because the page loads so fast you don't notice any slow down cuz of all the extra stuff being loaded. But, on dial-up, a person can die of old age waiting for a page with a lot of animated graphics to load.

In my opinion, simpler is better on web pages because no one really cares about the fancy animated graphics, but that kind of stuff really slows down people on dial-up cuz of all the extra waiting time for pages to load. So, if you can make the site look sexier without increasing the Kilobytes people have to download on every page, then go nutz. But, if what you're wanting to do is going to increase the Kilobytes people have to download on every page, then I'd urge caution. The people with the high speed connections don't care much one way or the other, but the people on dial-up will be adversely affected because of the longer waiting times between pages.

I stay on dial-up cuz I'm too cheap to spend an extra $50 per month on a high speed internet connection. I'd make a good plumber or electrician. Plumbers and electricians are the only ones that will drive to a different time zone to get a free hot dog and Coke at a trade show.

That's terrible. If I still had dial up I would quit the internet and pick up a book. And what's wrong with hot dogs. I eat one almost everyday and If it were free I wouldn't even yell at my wife for making them everyday. But seriously I eat them everyday. I love them. And a coke? Where are these trade shows? I need to become a plumber or electrician. I'd happily give up my life as a hot dog vendor.

I don't notice any difference in load time. However, I have noticed one extremely annoying feature that I don't believe to be part of the upgrade and that is; whenever someone replies to a post that I participated in, I get an email notifying me of the activity on the post.
I thought I unsubscribed to the posts but, it's like it's happening automatically with each posting I do.
Is there a way to unsubscribe as the default?

I'm finding my download times are longer on this site than other sites I've posted on. But, it's not really a problem because I have two computers on a KVM switch so that I can work on one computer while the page is loading on the other computer. Generally, the more animated graphics on a page, the longer it takes the page to load. I don't see any animated graphics on this website, but it might just be because I'm lacking the Javascript or Active-X software to run them.

I just found out I had had the same problem a few days ago. That was just about the time that I found out I had about 70 e-mails notifying me that someone had posted something in a thread that I had also posted in.

1. Click on the "User CP" at the top greenish bar. (the far left side of bar)
2. Click on "Edit Options"
3. In the dialogue box that says "Default Thread Subscription Mode" change the setting to either "Do not subscribe" or "No e-mail notification".

Thanks Nestor, I appreciate the help. That stuff was driving me nuts. Don't know how that option got toggled but, it's all good now.
I also noticed a few settings in there that might improve your load time. Logically, the more "bells & whistles" you turn on, the longer the load time.
