Cold Cellar Ideas

We are wanting to put in a cellar for our garden surplus this year. We talked about digging a hole in the side of a hill and burying a semi box/container in it. Anybody else have ideas on ways to make a cold cellar? I've read about burying ice chests in the ground too........recycling is an added bonus!

I have seen steel cargo containers buried into the side of a hill, however, whatever you decide to use, be aware of the amount of pressure that earth can put on the sides and top, because you do not want to have a cave in.
